CHOIR OPERATIONS

The choir is run by the Committee that meets 2-3 times per term. The responsibilities of the current committee are:

Roger Freeman, chair
Maria Ramos, secretary
Janet Thomas, treasurer
Beryl Curtis, fundraising
Heather Myers, membership
Val Fincham, librarian

Subcommittees can be formed and other choir members co-opted for specific purposes.

FUNDING

Choir operates jointly under the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham Adult College and the Community Music Service. Course fees are payable to the Adult College.  Additional funds are needed for such activities as exchange visits, concert venues, extra rehearsals and sheet music.   To cover these costs we organise fundraising events e.g. quiznights and sing-along evenings.

In the Summer of 2006 we were very fortunate to receive a one year lottery award of £4,400 to cover specific costs for year 2006-7.  This enabled us to have additional rehearsals outside the college term time to prepare for concert seasons, and promote ourselves by printed leaflets and posters.  Our thanks go to Awards for All for this fantastic gift.

Fundraising efforts continue on a yearly basis.

COMMUNITY MUSIC SERVICE

The Community Music Service aims to support the musical engagement and development of children, young people and adults in Barking and Dagenham through a wider range of musical programmes. More information on the services can be found HERE.
