SEPTEMBER 2009
Welcome back to the new choir year and great to see so many new faces – a warm welcome to you all!  This newsletter contains dates for the Autumn Term agreed so far.  Keep it safe, but do look out for any updates in case changes are made during the term.

The choir has been asked to give a Christmas Concert in aid of Action Against Hunger (AAH), an international charity organisation whose UK office is based in Greenwich.

The concert is on Tuesday 1 December at 19.30 at St Alfege Church, Greenwich, preceded by a rehearsal at the venue – time to be advised.  The concert is expected to last about an hour, including some prayers and talks, and mince pies and mulled wine are served afterwards.

The organisers told us, “As the only registered charity located in Greenwich village, our annual carol concert is a very locally driven event with approximately 300 guests in attendance, including local residences, business owners, and youth groups. The concert is free, but all donations will go towards Action Against Hunger’s worldwide programmes.”

Further information about AAH can be found at www.actionagainsthunger.org.  They work in over 40 countries to carry out innovative, life saving programmes in nutrition, food security, water and sanitation, health and advocacy.  Every year, their 6,000 aid workers help over 4 million people worldwide.  90p of every pound raised is spent on charitable activities, including benefiting communities, advocacy and research, and the remaining 10p on fundraising and governance.

In return for our appearance AAH will provide publicity for us in their programme leaflets and will include our choir flyers in their goodie bags for the audience.
